If you couldn’t tell, I am *slightly* obsessed with baking. Because of this, It has become something on my “must do” list when I travel, to visit the best bakeries in town! There is nothing better than getting to eat a baked good that you don’t have to clean up the mess from making.😉
While visiting London last spring with my mom, we made sure to try as many new bakeries as we could, as well as revisiting some of our all-time favorites!
The Best Cupcakes in London
First up on the list, is Peggy Porschen. If you love good cupcakes (and cake slices!) as well as a pink overload, you are going to want to stop by one of their locations! Peggy Porschen has two locations: one in Chelsea and one in Belgravia. Both are equally adorable, but if you are hoping to take advantage of their afternoon tea, or any of their other menu items with sitting down to eat in mind, I recommend going to the location in Chelsea. It has more seating so it is more equipped for the crowds they can get!
What should I try?
If you are wondering what is a must try, I would suggest one of everything… not kidding! Of all their flavors I have tried, I really don’t think you can go wrong with any of them! However, beware before you go that most of their cupcakes cost around £8.50. They are definitely pricey!
And if you are looking for a good picture spot… try around the corner at the Chelsea location! Fewer people walking past you to photobomb.😉
Crumbs & Doilies
I have been a fan of Crumbs & Doilies from the vary beginning of Tiny Bird Bakeshop – they were one of the very first bakeries I started following when I started my instagram account! I knew they were located outside of the United States, but I didn’t put it together that they were in London and that I could go try it in real life for a while!
What should I try?
Something I love about Crumbs & Doilies, are there plant based options. This might come as a surprise, but I am super lactose intolerant! As a baker this is definitely a bummer, because I almost never eat more than one bite of most baked goods because of the dairy! While I still love to get and try regular cupcakes, I love how Crumbs and Doilies always has a great selection of plant based cupcakes, especially because they taste amazing. You would never know they are plant based!
I also love how they offer mini cupcakes! This is a great way to get to sample more flavors without ending up with too many sweets! Another nice thing about C&D is that they are more reasonably priced. They range from £1.95 for minis and £3.95 for standard size cupcakes.
The Hummingbird Bakery
The Hummingbird Bakery is one of the bakeries we visited the first time I went to London with my family back in 2015! It is always a must when we are visiting London. This picture is from the first time our family friend Shannon took us by to try it! 9 year old Ashley says hi!
This time around, we were celebrating my mom’s birthday during out trip, so we of course had to get a cake!
Primrose Bakery
Last, but certainly not least, is Primrose Bakery! Primrose is another one that I visited for the first time back in 2015. They have some darling cupcakes and cakes!
I hope this helps you out if you are planning a trip to London and don’t want to miss out on the best bakeries! Feel free to leave any questions in the comments, or reach out to me on Instagram!
