Get To Know The Baker!

Welcome to Tiny Bird Bakeshop

Hi! My name is Ashley, I’m the baker & blogger behind Tiny Bird Bakeshop, and I am so excited you’re here!

I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself, so here goes!

My name is Ashley, I’m about to start my freshman year of college (next week!) and I am obsessed with baking. I have had an entrepreneurial personality for as long as I can remember. Before I turned 12, I had created numerous “businesses,” including making and selling snickerdoodle cookies to kids walking home from elementary school, selling Fruit Loop necklaces and bracelets, selling my Halloween candy during the days after Halloween, and making custom slime, to name a few. 😉 So, by the time I turned 15, I was ready to put my passion into something bigger. On March 26nd, 2021, Tiny Bird Bakeshop, a custom cupcake and cake bakery, was born!

I am so incredibly grateful for how far I have come, everything I have learned, and most of all, the support and love from those around me. None of this would be possible without people like YOU! Tiny Bird Bakeshop was strictly a local bakery in Orange County, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT, up until December 25th, aka Christmas, when my mom gifted me the most amazing and thoughtful present – a blog! I have wanted a blog since the day I started TBB, but knew I needed to focus on building my brand at the time. Having my mom to look up to in the blogging world (Pink Peppermint Design) really made me want to join in on the blogging fun! Now that I have things more dialed in, I am so excited to share recipes, tips, and tricks with people who love to bake, without geographical limitations!

Some who know me from Instagram (@tinybirdbakeshop) may be confused about how I have been baking in both OC and SLC for the last few years, so I think it would be nice to clear it up here if you’re curious. I did online high school, which gave me the flexibility to start a business. I was born and raised in Orange County, CA, but my dad currently works in Salt Lake City. During high school I would spend half of my time there, and the other half at home in OC. Due to this arrangement and all my flexibility, I decided to run Tiny Bird Bakeshop in both places. I loved doing this because it helped me work from wherever I was, and gave me unique opportunities in both places – which I’ll mention in a moment!

When I’m not in the kitchen baking and creating, I love to spend time with my family and friends, wear the color pink, listen to podcasts and learn about entrepreneurs that I look up to, sing karaoke to Taylor Swift and One Direction, and when I can, go to Disneyland! Growing up just 25 minutes down the road from The Happiest Place on Earth, I have become quite the Disneyland fanatic! I like to refer to it as my second home, and would move to Main Street in a heartbeat if they would let me! 😉 I love learning about Disneyland history, and Walt Disney is one of my biggest inspirations for following my dreams and making them my reality! minnie mouse Disney cupcakes

I love Disneyland SO much that I took my graduation pictures there! All of my pink & Disneyland obsessed dreams came true that day. 😉

Through the last (almost) three years, I have been blessed with so many amazing opportunities through Tiny Bird Bakeshop. Along with getting to bake for all sorts of birthday celebrations, baby showers, and corporate events, I have also had the chance to be featured in a couple magazines, share my cupcakes in baking segments on Studio 5 KSL with Brooke Walker, and work with some sprinkle brands that I love. While I still have so much more to learn and goals I hope to reach, these experiences have been so incredible and helped reassure me that I am on the right path! They have helped bring me out of my shell, helped me find the confidence to continue to put myself out there, and reminded me of the power that hard work and faith can have.

I also had did my first kids camp this last summer! I had so much fun teaching the cutest kids all about cookie & cupcake decorating! Can’t wait to do it again this summer!

To wrap up, I just want to thank you again for being here, if you read down this far! 😉

I will be posting recipes, tips, and tricks weekly for the foreseeable future, and I am so thrilled about it. So for now, happy new year, and I hope you come back next week for some super fun Valentine’s day cupcake ideas!
